Women journalists and media professionals worldwide are eligible for the Shireen Abu Akleh Prize, launched by the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) and the International Francophone Press Union (UPF).

The award, which recognizes the courage and determination of women journalists, is named in honor of Palestinian journalist and Al Jazeera reporter Shireen Abu Akleh, who was killed in the Jenin refugee camp while reporting live on May 11, 2022. 

Nominations must be accompanied by detailed descriptions of the candidate’s journalistic contributions. 

The winner will be awarded a 5000 Euro cash prize.

The award ceremony is scheduled for 10 December, 2024.
