Erick Kabendera is a journalist and a Research Associate at African Leadership Centre, King’s College London. He writes for the Africa Report, primarily focusing on East Africa, where he covers politics, illicit cross-border trade and terrorism. Additionally, he has contributed to The Economist Intelligence Unit, The Guardian UK, The East African and The Times of London.

Covering faith and religion is important because, in the region I cover, faith influences major events and elections, shapes the behaviour of political leaders, and is a source of most conflicts. As journalists, we have a duty to bring these issues to the discussion table.
