The coronavirus outbreak didn’t stop the 1st edition of the Piazza Grande Religion Journalism Award. The international Jury is in the process of selecting the winner, who will be announced on Monday, June 22nd.

The International association of Religion Journalists (IARJ) e la Fondazione per le Scienze Religiose Giovanni XXIII (FSCIRE), who jointly launched the award in March 2019, will announce the winner on their websites. The announcement will be made in the frame of the European Academy of Religion Conference, to be held online between June 22nd and 25th.

The new religion journalism prize was launched to honor the work of journalists in newspapers, magazines or news websites that publish regularly in Europe and the countries surrounding the Mediterranean basin.

We received many powerful entries and we very much look forward to reading the story selected by the jurors as the winner of this first edition of the award. If you are also eager to know the winner, check out the IARJ and FSCIRE websites on 22nd June!
