Though holidays are a traditionally rich time for religion writers–especially this year when both Christmas and Hannukah fall on the same day–it can be trying to find a fresh angle or a new story.

This year, however, presents a unique opportunity. It’s Jubilee 2025 in the Roman Catholic Church, which is marked on December 24 with the opening of the Holy Door at St. Peter’s Basilica and three other Papal Basilicas as well as a prison, symbolizing “a concrete sign of closeness” to prisoners.

But the event goes beyond opening doors. It’s a year-long celebration focused on hope.

No matter where in the world you are, Jubilee 2025 is likely to touch you. Here are some links to get you started on publishing a once-in-a-quarter-century story.
