Transitions magazine is seeking pitches for stories from freelance journalists, photographers, video producers, and multimedia creators based in or covering the Balkans region (including Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Kosovo, Albania, North Macedonia, Croatia, and Slovenia).

Transitions magazine is looking for original, in-depth reporting that sheds light on key issues shaping the region today, and welcomes a range of formats, including

  • Reported features (1,000–1,500 words)
  • Photo essays with captions or short accompanying text
  • Video or multimedia pieces
  • Explainers or visual stories that combine reporting with graphics, data, or maps

The project offers a flat fee of $250 per accepted story or multimedia piece, editorial support and collaboration with Transitions’ international team, publication in English on the Transitions website and promotion via their channels
